Billing and Service Requests
For all billing and service requests please call Clerks Office at (574) 772-3032 during normal business hours (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM CST). For after hours Emergencies call the Clerks Office at (574) 772-3032 and follow prompts to be forwarded to on call personnel.
All bills for wastewater services not paid by the 15th of each month thereof, as stated in such bills, shall be subject to a late fee of ten percent (10%).
As every resident benefits from fire hydrants, Residential Hydrant Fee is to be paid by every customer in the City of Knox, regardless of the status of water service, with the exception of those who currently pay private hydrant fee. The rate per month for the PRIVATE Hydrant Fee is $38.94.
Responsibilities
The City of Knox Water Department takes care of the following:
- Water Quality and Water Testing, Knox Water works monitors and tests water 7 days/week
- All Daily Paperwork and Required Water Reports
- Well Head Protection Plan
- Water Treatment Plant: Delivers safe drinking water to our customers
- Water Distribution System: Over 30 miles of water mains, with more than 600 buried valves
- Fire Hydrants: Maintaining and Testing
- Reading Water Meters: Includes maintenance and testing of the 1540 water meters in Knox
- Fixing and Repairing water leaks and breaks in the distribution system
- Residential Water Taps up to 2 inches in diameter
- Respond to all customer service requests:
- Example: Leak checks, turn on/offs​
- Enforcing Water Ordinances: Protecting the water system and all our customers​
