Golf Cart Ordinance & Registration

Annual Fees

The annual fee for each Knox Golf Cart Permit (KGCP) shall be $25.00 for a daytime-only permit or $30.00 for a day and nighttime permit, which shall be due at the time of registration. Vehicles authorized for nighttime operation will have a different colored sticker.

Golf Cart Registration

In order to operate a golf cart on any City of Knox street, registration of the golf cart is required. The KGCP must be affixed to the golf cart whenever it is operated on the city streets.

Valid Period and Renewal

The KGCP shall be valid for one calendar year. Such year shall run June 1 through May 31 of the following year. The renewal date for Golf Cart registration is May 31st.

Golf Cart Inspection

Prior to each KGCP issuance, the Knox City Police Department shall complete an inspection of the vehicle. Registration and Inspection of Golf Carts will be held at the Knox City Police Department at 101 West Washington Street. Appointments for inspections can be made by calling 574-772-4122.
